What?
Our first annual 5K Walk/Run for the Wildlife is a 5 kilometer
walk and run on the beach and a great way for animal lovers of all
ages to help our local wildlife while also having fun by enjoying
some spirited competition and physical fitness.
Why?
The purpose of the Walk/Run is
to call attention to the needs of orphaned, sick and injured
wildlife in our community.
Your tax-deductable contributions will be used to provide care and
rehabilitation to our wildlife patients.
Where?
On the beach at Huntington State
Beach, commencing just north of the wetlands jetty at Brookhurst.
A $15.00 parking fee is required to park in the state park, so
please come prepared.
When?
Saturday, September 11th
Register / Check-In
8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Stretch and Warm Up
9:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Run & Walk
9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
How?
Start Collecting Pledges Today!
Go to your friends,
family, co-works and neighbors with the Walk/Run Sponsorship Form
and ask for a taxdeductable sponsorship pledge donation.
No amount is too small or
too big.... every little bit helps!
Walk/Run Registration:
Bring your
completed Walk/Run Sponsorship Form along
with your sponsorship donations and register in person at the
event.
Walk/Run Information
The scenic 5 kilometer
walk and run will commence just north of the wetlands jetty, just
south of WWCC (at Brookhurst) on the beach and proceed north 2.5
kilometers along the surf towards the pier and returning to the
wetlands jetty. Water stations will be set up along the
route for your convenience.
Bring
your pledges of $100 or more before September 1st and get a free
t-shirt!

Directions to the Walk
Huntington State Beach at Brookhurst
Pop-up canopies will be visible on the beach north of the wetlands
jetty for registration and check-in.
State beach parking is located on Pacific Coast Highway at the
intersection of Brookhurst. A $15.00 parking fee is
required to park in the state park, so please come prepared.
From the South: Take Pacific Coast Highway north and turn
left at Brookhurst into the State Parking Lot and park at the
south side of the lot.
From the North: Take Pacific Coast Highway south and turn
right at Brookhurst into the State Parking Lot and park at the
south side of the lot.
From Inland: Take Brookhurst towards the beach, cross
Pacific Coast Highway directly into the State Parking Lot and park
at the south side of the lot.
Set the pace to help rehabilitate our wildlife
Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center’s goal for
this event is to raise money to fund the free services and
programs that WWCC provides, including care and rehabilitation for
more than 3450 birds and animals each year.
Your contribution to this event will make a
difference for our native
wildlife now and in the years to come.
